Kapalbhati Pranayama is a breathing exercise used in the yoga world. Its a wonderful technique to use for tired mums to increase oxygen flow and settle emotions as well as release toxins to keep you at your best. It is documented to help slow down the aging process. What an amazing tool, and so simple to do!
This exercise is NOT for pregnant mums. To do this breathing exercise just find a comfortable seated position. Keep you body relaxed, take a deep breath and breath out normally. On your next breath, on the EXHALE, let it out like you are blowing your nose (short & sharp). Let you inhale happen on its own, and then again, blow out your exhale. You should be able to feel your belly moving in and out. Continue this for 50 breaths, and if it feels comfortable, do 3 rounds. After Kapalbhati breathing don't eat for at least 30min, but feel free to drink small amounts of water. If you feel dizzy or nauseous you should slow down the force and pace of the practice, or stop completely and return to normal breathing. Don't do this practice if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke or epilepsy or if you have gastric issues such as an ulcer.
